Sales
Quotations, sales orders, invoicing, deliveries and returns.
Overview
The Sales module runs the full order-to-cash cycle: build a quotation, confirm it into a sales order (which reserves stock), deliver the goods, raise the invoice and collect payment. Global discounts, shipping charges and per-line taxes are prorated automatically, and every confirmed document posts the correct accounting entries so your ledger stays in step with operations.
Key features
Quotations & orders
Draft quotes, convert to orders, and track fulfilment and payment status end to end.
Discounts & taxes
Header and per-line discounts with net or gross accounting, plus per-code taxes.
Deliveries & returns
Confirm reserves stock; deliveries and serialized returns keep inventory accurate.
How to use it
1. Create a quotation
Go to Sales → Quotations → New. Pick the customer, add product lines, and apply any line or global discounts. Taxes are computed per tax code. Save as a draft to review or share it before committing.
2. Confirm to a sales order
Confirming a quotation turns it into a sales order and reserves the ordered quantities in stock, so the goods are ring-fenced for this customer. Back-orders are created automatically when stock is short.
3. Deliver the goods
Create a delivery from the order to move stock out of the warehouse. Delivery posts the inventory and cost-of-goods entries; serialized and lot-tracked items carry their identifiers through to the delivery.
4. Invoice & collect payment
Raise the invoice from the order (fully or partially), then register a payment against it. Fully-discounted, zero-total orders skip the journal entry and are auto-marked paid. Returns carry the original stock identifiers back in.
Roles & permissions
Access is controlled by Sales permissions (create/confirm/deliver/invoice) and the data-scope service, so a salesperson only sees the records within their allowed scope. Confirming, delivering and invoicing can each be restricted to different roles; posting always flows through Accounting with the correct journal entries.
Questions about this module
Does confirming an order reduce stock?
Confirming reserves the stock (it cannot be sold twice); the actual quantity leaves only when you create the delivery.
Can I invoice before delivering?
Yes — invoicing and delivery are independent steps off the order, so you can invoice first, deliver first, or do partials of each.
How are global discounts and shipping accounted for?
A global discount and shipping charges are prorated across the order lines, so taxes and margins stay correct on every line.
